Letting a disability get the best of you is a mind state for weak people. Having that disability help you is the mind state of a legend. An amazing person and artist from Chicago’s West side, E Rose, taught me that. E Rose was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 6 months and has grown up with it since. For those that don’t know, Muscular Dystrophy is a bunch of inherited diseases that weakens your muscles over time.

E Rose grew up borderline on the edge of poverty with five other siblings to share with. As you can imagine growing up with a disability like his wasn’t the easiest, but not once did he let it get in his way of making his dream into an art. Seeing other kids be able to do what he couldn’t had a huge toll on his character, making it difficult to express how he was feeling within himself. Video games and music became an outlet to him, where he met plenty of other people that inspired him to be himself and let loose, thus granting him some of the best years in his life, emotionally. Getting older, E Rose had to find other outlets to happiness in his life, and began creating music at the age of 10. He fell in love with singing, although had to give it up due to puberty, and decided to make conscious rap as well as begin taking advantage of his music at the age of 16-17 years old.

Juice Wrld, NBA Youngboy, Drake, Cole Bennett, and Derrick Rose are some of his biggest influences teaching him he can get through anything no matter what. They all teach him to be aggressive in everything he does and just put himself out there for people to see. Cole Bennett is an amazing friend to E Rose, pushing him to create his sound, and pushing him to be the best possible version he can become. “Shout out Cole Bennett, my cousin Baby Sosa, and Chuckee” -E Rose. No matter the cost E Rose is willing to put himself out there and form his unique sound. He strongly believes that if you push yourself to be the best you can be, things in life will start to work itself out. “I tend to Advise people to do whatever they want to! Don’t think just do and all your dreams and work will pay off in tremendous ways!”

Only being 20 years old this young man has more wisdom than the average 20 year old. Everything he’s been through has come to this moment in his life, and it was all for something. As long as you're sticking to your dreams you will overcome the negative in your lifetime. Some of my favorite songs by E Rose that have dropped range from, “Dream Come True”, “It Ain’t Over”, and “Post2b”. All of them give me a sense that everything in life is good, and will be alright. As of right now he is working on a project to be dropped soon called “VENGEANCE 4 E ROSE”, but until that drops he will be releasing 2 songs called “Stay Focused” and “Overdrive”. Much love to E Rose for hopping on Slapp'd and we wish him the best of luck!
