Through the Northeast suburbs from Evanston to Palatine, The Roegod’s had each others back from the get go. A traumatizing and PTSD inducing childhood due to the police breaking in and arresting their father on bogus ass drug charges at the age of 8 and 6. Roegod Darius, or Dareo, is now 24 in March and his brother, Lil Roe, is 22. As most people know growing up around drugs and guns at a young age you develop a sense of maturity real quick due to the fact that you gotta be on edge and ready for whatever comes your way. With the arrest of their father, Dareo had to become the man of the house at just 8 years old. On top of that at the age of 11 and 9 the only grandma in their lives had passed away out of the blue. Most people aren’t able to relate to what these two brothers have been through. This is why they’re so close and go hand in hand. By the time they were 13-14 years old Dareo and 12 Year old Lil Roe had to start gang banging to make something and get food on the table. The world hurt them, they were broke and it was just the two of them. Everything they did was all them, they didn’t get any outside help. Losing family and friends didn’t stop them from achieving the goal of having a good life. They had to live, if that meant hitting a stain to eat they’d do that. At the end of the day it was about survival for them.

Since they were out of the womb they basically been rapping and spitting heat for people to hear and relate to. “The pain we went through made our music even better” Daero Stated. When Lil Roe was about 3 they had a studio setup in the 2 brothers room. Making it very easy to get into the music grind of things. Lil Roe, before he rapped, sang a lot with his sister and mom whereas Dareo picked up the rap side of things. With influences from his dad's taste in music such as MJ, Lil Roe preferred to sing at a young age. Dareo had influences like UGK, Master P, Jeezy, Do Or Die, Bone Thugs, Tupac, Etc. On their Mother’s side they'd listen to Monica, Mary J Blige, Shai, Soul For Real, Michael Jackson, Prince, TLC, and so many more. Lil Roe enjoyed his life til he was about 6 and all that shit happened, but he stills stays true to himself and his brother. At the ages of 8 and 10 the Roegods did their first performance at a talent show getting a feel for the stage light. When Lil Roe hit the age of 11 a close friend and a family member were killed and from that point Lil Roe stopped singing and began to get more involved with the rap genre. At this point he was listening to artists such as Eminem and Lil Wayne but this rap music didn’t begin to explain the pain these brothers felt. He started listening to My Chemical Romance and Coheed and Cambria following his brother's footsteps into the street shit. Chicago is their city and they got all the love for it but it's not a place they wanna be living anymore. At the end of the day they were blood brothers and would do anything for each other.

Some of my favorite songs from the two artists range from “Control” by Lil Roe and “Talkn dat shit freestyle” from Dareo. From the both collectively "Ugly", shot by @anthonybranss. The two have a very distinct sound and go hand in hand with one another, like yin and yang. The Roegods are always looking for new music to drop and they have a bunch of solos and duos coming out, consisting of sad vibes, drill vibes and some uplifting music as well. One thing they had to say for people who have been in similar situations as them is “We’re walking examples that everything people say you can’t do YOU CAN!! And when you feel like quitting, to push yourself even harder cause you only get that feeling when you're getting close. It might take a minute but it never rains for 30 seconds.
